Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s neighbours in Montecito are reportedly “fed up” with the royal couple and are eagerly awaiting their exit. The pair moved into their £12 million mansion after stepping down as working royals and leaving the UK in 2020.
Recent comments from neighbours reveal a less-than-favourable sentiment towards the couple, who live there with their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three. One anonymous neighbour expressed their disdain, saying they “cannot wait for her [Meghan] to go.”
Frank McGinity, an 88-year-old navy veteran living next door, shared his experience of being turned away from their gates while attempting to be neighbourly. He wanted to share films he made about the local history, but security guards dismissed him, stating, “they’re not interested.”
McGinity expressed confusion over their choice to move to the Riven Rock estate, which typically attracts an older demographic. “We don’t see them very much around here,” he noted.
Columnist Richard Mineard echoed similar sentiments, mentioning that the community has a wealth of residents who contribute significantly to local charities and cultural organizations. Despite living in a splendid area, he remarked, “The community is waiting for them – they’re gnashing at the bit. The cachet of a Duke and Duchess!”
Mineard noted that Harry has been seen riding his bike or going out for lunch, while Meghan has made occasional appearances shopping or dining in the area, but overall, the couple remains mostly out of sight.
