Ahead of the release of the last few episodes of The Boys season 5, a new casting announcement has been made. In June, the popular superhero spoof series on Prime Video, which was created by Eric Kripke, returned for a fourth season, bringing new heights to the struggle between Homelander (Antony Starr) and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). It is now official that The Boys season 5 will mark the conclusion of the beloved program; the final episodes are now in creation but have not yet been given a release date.
Actor Daveed Diggs has reportedly joined the cast of The Boys season five, according to EW. Although his character’s specifics are still unknown, Diggs will function as a series regular. Diggs reunites with recurring cast members from previous seasons, including Erin Moriarty, Jack Quaid, Urban, and Starr. Diggs was welcomed to the show by the official X account for The Boys, which would also confirm the casting:
“New S5 crumbs…let’s all welcome Daveed Diggs to The Boys family, shall we?” The post reads. “He’ll be playing a character in the show. That’s all ya get for now.“
What Daveed Diggs’ Casting Means For The Boys Season 5
Where You’ve Seen Diggs Before & Who He Could Be Playing In The Boys
Diggs will be best known to many viewers for his role in Broadway’s Hamilton, with his dual roles of Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette winning him a Tony in 2016. More recently, he’s been playing lead character Andre Layton in the Snowpiercer TV show, which just recently aired its series finale on AMC. Diggs also voiced Sebastian in Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid remake, in addition to lending his voice to shows like Star Trek Prodigy (2021– 2024), Invincible (2021–), and Solar Opposites (2020–).
Diggs, therefore, is a great addition to season 5 and has a number of noteworthy titles under his belt. His role in The Boys is yet unknown, but the ensemble is expanding with every new season, especially when it comes to new superhero characters. Diggs may play a typical human, but he may also turn out to be a Supe. This raises the question of whether he will support Butcher and The Boys or Vought and Homelander.
Our Take On Diggs’ Casting In The Boys
Diggs Would Make A Great New Supe
Diggs’ new character will be thrust into the center of things in season 5 of The Boys, as the show is building towards a big confrontation that will occur after the conclusion of season 4. The new Super Heroes that are added to the cast with every season—many of them have unusual or unusual abilities—have been one of the most entertaining aspects of the program so far. Diggs would undoubtedly succeed in The Boys season 5 as a typical human character, but it’s possible that he might be better suited to portray a new Supe, who might turn out to be very different from any character he’s ever done.
