Tennis legend Serena Williams, 42, confirmed that even top athletes face gym struggles just like everyone else. In a recent Instagram post, she revealed that she spends half of her workout time snapping selfies to find the “perfect angle.”
“I spend 50% of my time in the gym taking selfies,” she wrote, sharing a series of mirror selfies from her workout. “Well, I found that angle, so don’t look at me sideways when in person I’m a tad thicccker lol,” she added, complete with a laughing-crying emoji.
Fans expressed the relatability of her post on the comments section.
‘Honey that’s what we all do,’ one fan commented.
‘I feel that my sister,’ another added. ‘Same here.’
Aside from her 23 Grand Slams in singles, Williams won 14 Grand Slams in doubles and two majors in mixed doubles through her storied 27-year career.
Williams has a total of 73 singles titles on the WTA tour along with three gold medals in doubles and one in singles competitions across three Olympic games.
In September 2022, Williams stepped away from tennis but referred to her hiatus as an ‘evolution’ rather than a retirement.
‘I have never liked the word,’ Williams wrote in an issue of Vogue. ‘It doesn’t feel like a modern word to me.
‘I’ve been thinking of this as a transition, but I want to be sensitive about how I use that word, which means something very specific and important to a community of people.’
Fans expressed how much they relate to Williams’ knack for finding the best angles in pictures
Serena Williams shared her thoughts on her journey in a candid message, stating, “Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is evolution.” She expressed her intention to move away from tennis to focus on other important aspects of her life.
Williams revealed that she decided to take some time off to spend with her family while she and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, worked on having another 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢. Reflecting on her experience, she noted, “I definitely don’t want to be pregnant again as an athlete. I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out.”
After a year of trying to expand their family, Williams shared that recent medical advice reassured her about their plans. The couple welcomed their second daughter, Adira, in August, joining their firstborn, Alexis Olympia, who was born in September 2017.
