At a recent Amazon Prime Video event, Priyanka Chopra revealed what made her back Women of My Billion that revolves around violence against women.
Actor-producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Tuesday introduced Women of My Billion, an upcoming documentary narrating the true story of a woman’s journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to meet women who have faced violence.
Priyanka’s production banner Purple Pebble Pictures has produced the documentary in association with Awedacious Originals. The documentary, directed by Ajitesh Sharma, will be released on Amazon Prime Video.
“I’ve had a really long relationship with Prime Video, now almost going on for four years, and they have always been champions of the work that I have done. And this movie was one of them,” Priyanka said at the Prime Video Presents event as she introduced the documentary’s director and cast.
The actor-producer remarked, “When I saw this movie – WOMB (Women Of My Billions), a country that belongs to so many people, and just knowing the violence against women is not something that happens in India, it is a global phenomenon that is not much talked about.”
Women Of My Billions follows Srishti Bakshi, the UN Women Champion of Change, on her monumental journey as she walks 3,800 km over 240 days from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Throughout her trek, she meets and learns from women across India, uncovering their diverse experiences and shedding light on the pervasive issue of violence against women worldwide.
