Late Queen’s unprecedented offer to Meghan Markle to make her happy in Royal Family

Meghan Markle spent a short amount of time with the late Queen Elizabeth II before the Duke and Duchess of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍 quit the Royal Family. However, the Monarch made time to have some important chats with her grandson’s wife

When Queen Elizabeth II first met Meghan Markle, she recognized something special about her grandson’s new girlfriend. Before entering the royal family, Meghan was already a successful actress and charity campaigner, and insiders believe the Queen saw the potential benefits of Meghan’s presence for the Royal Family.

According to Paul Burrell, former butler to Princess Diana, the late Queen made an unprecedented offer to Meghan during their initial meetings. Burrell shared with Mirror US that the Queen was “very gracious and very kind” to Meghan, even suggesting, “You can continue acting if you like, continue your career.”

Despite this generous offer, Meghan chose not to pursue her acting career, opting instead to focus on her responsibilities as a working royal. During her engagement interview, she explained her perspective on this transition: “I don’t see it as giving anything up, I just see it as a change.”

This pivotal moment highlights the early support Meghan received from the Queen, as well as her commitment to her new role within the royal family.

In her engagement interview, Meghan Markle reflected on her decision to step away from her acting career, stating, “It’s a new chapter.” She highlighted the significance of her time on Suits, where she worked for seven years. Once the show reached its 100-episode milestone, she felt a sense of accomplishment and readiness to embrace her new role alongside Prince Harry, saying, “It’s time to, as [Harry] said, ‘work as a team with [him].’”

Meghan made a notable impact during her brief time as a working royal. Just months after her wedding to Prince Harry, she was given her first royal patronages, with a focus on areas she was passionate about. The Queen personally handed her the first two patronages: The National Theatre and The Association of Commonwealth Universities. Additionally, Meghan selected two charities—Smart Works and Mayhew—that represented her strong feminist views and love for animals.

Paul Burrell, former butler to Princess Diana, commented on the Queen’s support for Meghan, suggesting that the late monarch’s encouragement illustrated her desire for Meghan and Harry to be active members of the royal family. Burrell remarked, “It’s mind-boggling the amount of goodwill which Meghan and Harry have thrown away.” He noted that it was particularly painful for the Queen when Harry chose to leave the Royal Family, as she had tried her hardest to persuade them to stay.

This insight into Meghan’s early royal life underscores her commitment to her new role and the support she received from the Queen, as well as the challenges that arose as the couple navigated their place within the monarchy.
