The newly unearthed photos premiered at photographer Renell Medrano’s “LAMBÓN” exhibition in New York on Thursday.
Never-before-seen photos of Kendrick Lamar from his Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers album are on display.
Outtakes from Lamar’s 2022 album taken by photographer Renell Medrano were unearthed at her new exhibition LAMBÓN in New York City on Thursday.
The black and white photos feature Lamar, 37, along with fiancée Whitney Alford and their two children, Uzi and Enoch. The 17-time Grammy winner stands solemnly wearing a crown of thorns while Alford tends to their children.

In one of the images, K.Dot holds a rifle while standing behind Alford and the kids.
Looks like a different shotgun but it’s there for a reason
There’s even a picture of him and his dad from the GKMC booklet and the shotgun next to it on the Morale back cover pic.twitter.com/vUbCbF0JZO— Man-Man (@numnumjuice) October 4, 2024
As noted by some users, the gun imagery might be a callback to a photo of Lamar’s father in the booklet of 2012’s good kid, m.A.A.d city.
According to the exhibit’s official website, Medrano’s LAMBÓN is her first hometown showcase in over five years. The exhibition, which includes collaborations with artists like Lamar and Solange Knowles, explores themes of cultural identity and creative originality while highlighting previously unseen projects shot in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Egypt.
