The couple gave $1 million to Feeding America, according to an announcement shared by the organization
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have made a major donation to hurricane relief efforts after Helene and Milton devastated southeastern portions of the United States in just two weeks.
Feeding America announced on Thursday, Oct. 10, that the couple had given $1 million “to help people impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton rebuild and recover.”
The organization thanked Lively, 37, and Reynolds, 47, for their “longtime support of Feeding America,” which they said “has had an immense impact on communities nationwide.”
“These funds will help food banks provide basic needs like water, ready to eat food and supplies to communities facing heartbreaking loss and a long recovery,” Feed America said in its statement.
They also encouraged readers to join Lively and Reynolds “if you’re able to” and donate.
News of Lively and Reynolds’ donation comes one day after Feeding America announced that the couple’s close friend Taylor Swift donated $5 million.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift,” the organization said in its statement about the music superstar, 34.
Feeding American thanked Swift “for standing with us and the movement to end hunger and helping communities in need in the wake of” Helene and Milton.
They added, “Together, we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead.”
At least 10 people have died from Milton, which made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm on Wednesday, Oc.t 9.
More than 200 people were also 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed in connection with Helene, which devastated areas in six southern states as it moved north from Florida late last month.
Florida was hit hard by both storms. Gov. Ron DeSantis said at least four people died after 19 tornadoes touched down as the storm moved onshore.
