Priyanka Chopra opened up about her Jodhpur marriage on a chat show and explained why she chose India as her destination, instead of going abroad for it.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s splendid wedding at Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur, was the grandest event in 2018. The radiant photos from the epic bash are still doing the rounds on the internet and fans can’t stop gushing over it.
On Jimmy Fallon’s show, she was asked if she always wanted an Indian wedding, and she answered how handsome Nick looked wearing a turban.
Priyanka revealed that she wanted a big wedding at a private island, but it was Nick’s idea to get married in India. “I wanted to get married at a private island away from everything. We were really stressed out about it cause we were like Seychelles, Maldives, Mauritius whatever and nothing was working out and we were like how will we fly everyone, the logistics and when Nick was in Mumbai he said ‘Why aren’t we doing this in India? Shouldn’t I be taking my bride from her home?’ And when he said that i was like in India it becomes a thing then you know,” she said.
Priyanka and Nick kept their wedding an intimate affair with only family and close friends in attendance. In another interview, the Baywatch actress said,”Usually Indian weddings have like a thousand people, we had only 200 which was mostly family. Both of us have giant families.” She said that they did not invite too many guests becayse they wanted to keep it an intimate affair. “We wanted to keep it just about family,” added Priyanka.
She also added that her private wedding made her mom very upset as she could not invite everyone to her daughter’s wedding. “My mother was so upset with me the whole time. She was like I need to have another party for the 150,000 people I know. How can I not invite my jeweller, how can I not invite my hairdresser? This was the conversation,” said Priyanka.
Priyanka and Nick tied the knot on December 1 and 2 in Jodhpur. Currently, the newlyweds are back to USA after their long vacation.
On the work front, Priyanka will soon resume the shooting of Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink.
