While there’s no doubt she’s built her own reputation as a strong lead in shows like Gossip Girl and films like A Simple Favour, Lively – like many celebs – has parents in the industry.

According to People, they are both Hollywood veterans. Her late father, Ernie, was an actor for over 50 years, and her mother, Elaine, worked as a talent manager and actress, according to the source.

Per People, Elaine used to work as a talent manager in Hollywood. As an actress, she appeared in the 1993 video game, Return to Zork, as seen on her IMDb profile. It’s unclear what she does for a living today.

Elaine’s style philosophy has clearly influenced Blake’s over the years. In a 2023 Instagram post about whether it was better to wear a single necklace or multiple for a mother-daughter photo shoot, Blake wrote in a caption alongside a selfie with her mother: “I would like to replace the term ‘hoarder’ in favour of ‘maximalist’. It makes me feel better. Wonder where I get it from …”

How did Elaine Lively meet Ernie Lively?

While they haven’t publicly mentioned how or when they met, Elaine and Ernie Lively tied the knot in 1979, and were together until his death in 2021, per People. Ernie was known for his appearances in films and TV shows including The Dukes of Hazzard, The X-Files, The West Wing, Turner & Hooch and Murder, She Wrote, The Beverly Hillbillies, Passenger 57 and more. He also played Blake’s father in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and its 2008 sequel.

Elaine had three children – daughters Lori and Robyn and son Jason – with her first husband Ronnie Lively, according to People.

When she married Ernie Lively in 1979, he adopted her children, reported the publication. Elaine and Ernie then welcomed Blake’s older brother Eric in 1981, and Blake in 1987.

In 2020, he took to Instagram to crack a joke at his mother-in-law during the Covid-19 pandemic. He wrote, “This shirt is so unremarkable that it actually renders its wearer completely invisible. For instance, I’m quarantining with my mother-in-law, and she’s been looking for me for days.”

In another post from 2021, Blake shared a sweet photo of Reynolds and her late father hugging one another and wrote, “My guys”.
