Ludmilla shared several details about her partnership with rapper Cardi B this Wednesday (25). During a chat with presenter Fabio Porchat, the singer recalled when she first contacted Cardi via Instagram, revealing that she was the one who started a conversation about the partnership.
After exchanging a few messages, Lud wrote a song and sent it to the rapper to listen to, but it ended up going a long time without a response.
“I thought she didn’t like it and was embarrassed to say it,” Lud confessed. “But she was just waiting to be in a car or in the studio to listen to it. Then she sent me an audio message saying she loved the rhythm, the flow. I did one part for her and one for me, and she said she liked my part better. So she did both. We recorded the song and it was really cool.”
Lud also spoke about the friendship that developed between the two, who started talking with the help of a translator, but soon began talking more and even exchanging phone calls. “She is really nice, very humble, very down to earth and very talented,” she praised.
The Brazilian also recalled a funny story about when they met in the United States to record the song, which still has no release date.
“She went to do her part and started writing her verse right away. In the lyrics there was a phrase saying that she was going to ‘run away with Ludmilla and her girlfriend to Brazil’. Then she called me with Brunna in the corner saying ‘look, I have a husband, this is just a joke’, asking if she could put that in the song”, he recalled, saying that his wife, Brunna Gonçalves , loved being mentioned in the partnership.
When asked if this partnership could be her big moment to start an international career, Lud said she doesn’t have any concrete plans, but that she believes it can open new doors. “I’m sure that when we release the song I can break down a lot of barriers because she’s one of the greatest rappers in the world,” she said.
