Travis Kelce left Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island beach house to go back to work on Monday, but the Kansas City Chiefs player had his girlfriend on his mind this week. E! and Page Six reported that during a team roundtable hosted by Chiefs announcer Mitch Holthus, Kelce openly expressed his feelings for Swift.
“We love you,” Kelce told Holthus, speaking for the team.
The announcer then brought up Kelce’s partner, inquiring whether the tight end would “love me more than Taylor.”
“Maybe not,” Kelce replied after a pause.
Kelce also praised Swift in a new episode of his podcast, New Heights, which was released yesterday. His guest Adam Sandler had brought the singer up, saying, “By the way what a girl. What a girl.”
Kelce agreed, saying, “You know it. You know it. Best performer out here.”
Kelce has attended multiple Eras Tour shows, even appearing onstage with Swift during her London performance on June 23. He discussed how his cameo happened on an early July episode of New Heights.
“I initially mentioned it [joining her onstage] to Tay,” he said. “I was like, ‘How funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 era?’ She started laughing and she was like, ‘Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?’ And I was like, ‘What?! I would love to do that. Are you kidding me? I’ve seen the show enough, might as well put me to work here.’ Sure enough, she found the perfect part of the show for me to come in. There was no bike in case I ran into somebody else or hit one of the dancers or anything. It [the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” segment] was like the safest option.”
“It’s such a fun, playful part of the show, and it was like the perfect time for me to go up there, just be a ham, and have some fun not only with her…but to get the crowd excited for the rest of the show,” he added.
Kelce teased that he could appear again, saying, “Shout-out to Tay for letting me jump up onstage with her. Who knows? Might not be the last time. You guys will have to keep showing up for the Eras Tour to see if I pop out of the stage and whatnot.”
Swift is currently on break from her Eras Tour after wrapping her European leg on August 20. She’ll continue her U.S. shows in Miami starting on October 18. Learn more about how to get last-minute tickets here.
